Toplumun geleneklerini, inançlarını, duygu ve düşüncelerini, yaşayışlarını gelecek kuşaklara aktaran en önemli unsur dildir. sosyal kültürel yapısını ortaya koyan da dil malzemeleridir. Bu malzemelerinden biri de renk adlarıdır. Renk, insanın yaşamını güzelleştiren, onu daha cazip anlamlı hale getiren ögelerden biridir. Türk kültüründe renklerin önemi çok büyüktür. Sadece dış dünyanın ifade edilmesinde değil, kişilerin ruhsal durumlarının renklerden yararlanılmıştır. konuda, Pınar Gümüşkaya Tarihî Lehçelerinde Renk Adları (2015) adlı yüksek lisans tezinde tarihî lehçelerindeki ad kavramlarını dönemler çerçevesinde toplu sözlük niteliğinde koymaya çalışmıştır. tez çalışmasında Çağatay Türkçesi eserleri içinde Nevâyî’nin divanlarından Nevadirü’ş-Şebâb incelenmemiştir. çalışmanın farkı ise, Nevadirü’ş-Şebâb’taki adlarının kavram alanlarını tespit edip örneklendirmektir. Çalışmayı sınırlandırabilmek için sadece temel adı olan sözcükler ele alınmıştır. Nevadirü’ş-şebâb’ta Ak / Beyaz; Kara Siyeh; Gül (Gül-Gûn, Gül-Reng); Kızıl; Sarı; Gök; Yaşıl; Yâkût; Lâle-Gûn olmak üzere dokuz edilmiştir.
